How do I know whether my child has been accepted into Academia?

  • A consultant will be in contact with you to confirm that the student placement. Students are placed according to the date on which the application has been received.

Is there an admission criterion?

  • Academia requires a student to be registered at an acknowledged institute of learning and have a valid student number with said institution. Only full-time students will be considered.

What happens if my child has not been accepted to the University?

  • Please obtain a letter from the University stating that the child has not been admitted. Your money will be refunded up to 15 January. Cancelations after 15 January will not be refunded. In the event of a late cancelation you have the option of sub-letting. Alternatively, should Academia manage the letting, there will be a 7.5% administration charge.

What happens if my child has been accepted by a University Hostel?

  • * If you cancel before the 30th November, your 'booking fee' is refunded, less 10% cancellation/admin fee. * If you cancel after 30th November, the booking fee is forfeited. * If you cancel after 15th December, when full yearly rental should have been paid - you will be liable to find a sub-let/tennant for your unit.

What happens if I cancel?

  • Clients are allowed to cancel by no later than 30th November, whereby your 10% deposit shall be reimbursed. A cancellation fee of 10% shall be deducted from the amount.

How far is campus from Academia?

  • All faculties or departments are within walking distance from Academia. The furthest faculty is the Sport Science Department, which is about 15/20min walk from Academia.
